Student Learning Expectations





​We expect a lot of our students and each child knows that being a good neighbor is part of being a member of the Sacred Hearts family.  We outline our student learning expectations (SLE) in an acronym: "
HEARTS".

SLE #1:       H      Help My Community
  • Identify problems and explore solutions
  • Analyze and evaluate creatively
  • Be able to research and interpret information
  • Apply prior knowledge and demonstrate perseverance
  • Appreciate different points of view and perspectives
  • Adapt to changing conditions

SLE #2:       E       Excellence… Strive For It!
  • Are motivated by a quest for knowledge
  • Continually build upon their foundation of the academic subjects
  • Develop their potential, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually
  • Set priorities, access and utilize resources, and evaluate their progress
  • Develop organizational and study skills

SLE #3:       A       Able To Work Independently And As A Team Mate
  • Articulate their ideas clearly in oral & written form using proper grammar & mechanics
  • Listen attentively (using their heart, eyes and ears)
  • Can recognize, understand and use nonverbal communication
  • Develop skills to speak publicly with confidence and poise
  • Responsibly use technology when alone and with others

SLE #4:      R       Remain Committed To My Faith
  • Have a solid foundation and knowledge of the Catholic faith
  • Participate in Catholic prayer, Mass and fellowship in our school community
  • Serve their church, family, school, community and the world at large
  • Demonstrate the courage of one’s belief and lives out God’s teaching in daily lives
  • Respect one another and themselves while growing in love and faith

SLE #5:      T       Think Before I Act
  • Articulate their ideas clearly in oral and written form using proper grammar and mechanics

  • Respect and develop a sense of stewardship toward nature and cultural diversity
  • Actively help those in need
  • Are responsible for their own choices and actions
