Alexis Merrill grew up in Pueblo, Colorado in a family of college professors. She graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Statistics. While in graduate school, Alexis chaired the Utah College Exit Poll, a statewide exit poll run by students from Utah's nine major universities.
Alexis is an Arizona girl at heart, having been born in southern Arizona and spending ten years raising her family in Gilbert. After ten summers in the triple digits, her husband, Mark (a Lahaina native) convinced Alexis to relocate their family to the small town that shaped his childhood. Alexis is married to her sweetheart, Mark, and they have four kids--Ava, Mia, Layla and Milo.
Alexis is excited to bring her enthusiasm for math to the middle school classrooms. Knowing that math is a universal language, she hopes her students will learn to "speak" math fluently. Math is the foundation for music, athletics, engineering and students will embrace the fact that a day will never go by that they won't call upon their math foundation.
