Dr. Miguel Solis
Dr. Miguel Alejandro Solis is the current principal of Sacred Hearts School in Lahaina, Maui. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and as he subbed and pursued a career in teaching, he was approached by nuns who were heads of Our Lady of Loretto School in Echo Park, CA and helped him formalize his education in teaching. They saw he had a gift of capturing students and leading them to greater things. Student support is what he always envisioned pursuing in an area where low socioeconomic inequities did not inspire students and families to venture far beyond its borders. Furthering his educational career he obtained his Masters Degree in Education from Loyola Marymount University in Westchester, California and immediately enrolled at, and was accepted at USC’s Rossier School of Education for his Doctoral Degree. At this point in his career the school that fundamentally thrusted his experiences forward was Chaminade College Preparatory in Chatsworth, California. Here he essentially found ways that inspired, supported and filled the needs for students to be enveloped in learning across all areas. The use of technology, community outreach, innovation in leadership across all ages and constant change is what made the school successful. Success was due in part to how teachers felt when they would go to Chaminade and teach, students would feel they were part of something greater than just being taught there, and where parents felt welcomed and accepted to continue to be a part of their children’s lives. Dr. Solis is married to Dr. Lisa Zamora also a graduate from USC. They were married in 2015 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa, Kauai. In July 2016 they welcomed their little boy named Noah Michael Solis into their lives. Both are passionate about educational leadership and mentoring future leaders to make great strides in their endeavors.
